Caught by Glints of Joy

Sometimes we catch a glimmer of You, just out of the corner of our eye.

Like a flicker of light off a hovering hummingbird, Your light refracting off that which gleams Your glory.

And there is a catch in the back of our throats as we wonder,

What was that?

Was it our imagination?

Was it You?

We catch these glimmers in our children, in art, and in silence, in nature and community; in all the places where You gently call us to Yourself.

Sometimes when we see Your glory, we cannot help but smile, giggle, snicker, snort laugh or out and out cackle with our belly bouncing and tears of joy streaming down our cheeks because our God is good.

This Joy is the bounty of Your Presence.

The overflow of the abundant life You offer us.

It is the fruit of Your Spirit.

May we not fear this joy. May we welcome it and answer its call. May we not suffocate the joy You've placed in our hearts, so that it will overflow to our families, our work and communities, until all pulsates,

radiates,

and shimmers

with Your abundant Joy.
